Cumin seed is a native of Egypt but is now mainly grown in India, the Middle East (Iran, Turkey and Syria), North Africa (Morocco) and Latin America (Chile, Mexico). Indian cumin finds worldwide use in foods, beverages, liquors, medicines, toiletries and perfumery and grows abundantly in the mild, equable climate of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
From Latin America to North Africa and all over Asia, cumin is the most popular spice used. It is also widely used for medicinal purposes all over the world.
India is the world's largest producer and also the largest consumer of cumin.

Cultivation
Cumin is grown from seeds. Rich, well drained, sandy, loamy soil and sun are the basic requirements for its growth. The plants bloom in June and July. The seeds are normally ready four months after planting.

Processing Care
Our processing units adopt modern and the highest standards of processing, packaging and hygiene. Processing of cumin consists of drying and cleaning. Sun drying is done on clean cemented yards or other suitable clean surfaces. The seeds are periodically turned over to ensure uniform drying. They are heaped and covered at night to protect from rain.
